door-to-door firewood salesman
*doorbell rings at my parents house*
me: hi.
guy at door: hi. can i interest y'all in some firewood?
me: firewood?
guy: yep. firewood.
me: you're going door-to-door selling firewood?
guy: yessir. you interested in any?
me: is this a normal thing for people to do in mississippi?
guy: i suppose so. would you like to buy some firewood?
me: people go to other people's houses here and knock on their door and try to sell them firewood? really?
guy: yessir. i take it you don't want no firewood.
me: surely you can't have a high success rate going door-to-door selling firewood.
guy: depends.
me: i mean it's not like firewood is a magazine or girl scout cookies. it's not a thing you buy just to buy, is it? do people sit home and think 'i need some firewood but i don't want to go to the store so i'll just sit here and wait until someone comes to my door selling it'?
